The Protos leaves nothing to chance. With a long and low fit, this sub-1000g frame is the result of years of work, research, and engineering. It was an important project that wanted to merge everything accumulated in 60 years of De Rosa's bike building. It's an innovative chassis - high performing, stable, and simply beautiful. It's something unparalleled! Above the line.
The Protos is an expert blend of three types of carbon fibers carefully measured to obtain a precise goal -- stiff, light, and comfortable. The composition is made up of 50% Toray 800 fiber, 40% Toray 1000, and 10% XN60. This blend allows the Protos to be incredibly stiff when standing, but comfortable when seated. The PROTOS frame increases the STW (stiffness to weight) value by 35% compared to traditional competition racing bikes. The ability to absorb and disperse the irregularities of the terrain have been obtained from the particular design of the fork "Head Flat Face," which can boast a Cda enviable even for a bicycle time trial.
Mechanical or electronic, all the cables and wires are internal. The bottom bracket is PressFit BB86 and the steerer is a tapered 1 1/8" to 1 1/4". Seatpost (not included) is round and 31.6 diameter.
Available in eight measurements, the Protos is also customizable (geometry and paint) on request through De Rosa's Black Label program.
